2018 home remodeling design will look a lot the same as 2017, but with a more vibrant color palette. Homeowners are always looking for new ways to improve their home, whether it’s flooring, wallpaper, or kitchens. Here are some of my favorites ideas that I expect to see more 2018:

Space

We will continue to see more mudroom extensions and renovated laundry room to increase the usable space within our homes, just like years ago. As more families care for elderly loved ones at home, accessibility remodeling is gaining popularity. It is possible to make a significant difference for people with mobility problems by updating bathrooms or widening doorways.

Materials

You can replace hardwood floors with light-textured, dark wood if you plan on replacing them this year. Instead of replacing all flooring, clients could merely refinish their existing wood floors and not stain or seal them. Lighter wood floors create a feeling of openness and lightness, because they are more likely to be exposed to natural light. 2018 may be the year when granite loses its reign. Quartz countertops are increasingly being preferred by homeowners. Quartz is more expensive than granite. However, it’s more maintenance-friendly, can be stained more often, and is stain resistant.

Color

Pantone’s 2018 announcement of ultra violet as the official color is a reminder that colors are trending bolder. It will likely be used more as an accent colour, but bright colors such Gen Z yellow (a bright lemon color) may also be in demand. White kitchens are likely to disappear in 2018, as many people opt to use muted blues and pastel greens in their cabinets to create a relaxing, inviting atmosphere.
